The ice fields between Bjørnøya and Hopen were investigated. Altogether 6 icebergs were located from LANCE while 85 were spotted from the helicopter reconnaissance flights covering most of the Spitsbergenbanken. Nine icebergs were instrumented with ARGOS positioning buoys for drift tracking. Most of the area of operation was covered with ice floes 20-500 m of medium to thick winter ice. Multi-year ice was observed in concentrations between 0 and 4/10. The total concentration was between 90 and 100 percent along the sailing route.no_NO
